Strążyska Valley

When you are tired with Krupówki Street you can visit Strążyska Valley. It’s a small valley not very far from the town center. From the market in Zakopane we are going to the Krupówki street  and along Krupówki Street untill we pass Mc Donald\s on the right side, after that we turn right into the Gen. Galicy Street. We are going Gen. Galicy Street near Cinema „Sokół” and still this same direction  Orkana Street. When we pass the bridge on the Młyniska Stream we turn left into Kasprusie Street. We are going Kasprusie Street and after that this same direction Strążyska Street to the end of the street. We reach the end of Strążyska Street after 30 or 40 minutes. Here we see the entrance gate to the Strążyska Valley, where we have to buy tickets into the Tatra National Park, adults 5 zł, children, students and pensioneers 2,5 zł.

Strążyska Valley is a small valley in the forest. It is settled in the area of 4 square kilometers and its length is 2,8 kilometers. We pass a forester’s lodge. Injured animals can find help there. We are going along the stream crossing it a few times by the bridges. On the right side we can see Kominy Strążyskie (Strążyska’s Chimneys) the group of picturesque rocks. In the stream we can observe beautiful plunge pools, and rapids. On the way we pass a tablet with a memory notice about Edward Jelinek (Bochemian writer and journalist who was a friend of polish people). After a while we come to the Strążyska Glade. (From the beginning of the valley 35 minutes, from the town center 1 hour and 15 minutes. In front of us we see huge mountian wall of Giewont (height 600 meters) with the cross in the summit.

Looking at the Giewont on the left side we have Sarnia Skała Roe Deer’s Rock) 1377 m, on the right side Łysanki 1445 m We rest here, even eat or drink something because on the glade is bistro, where we can buy tea, coffe, beer, and some snakes like for example delicious apple pie. From the glade we can also walk to the Śiklawica Strążyska, it’s a waterfall. The waterfall’s height is 23 meters and here our turistic path ends.

From the Strążyska Glade we can easly reach the summit of the Sarnia Skała but about that I will write next time. Have a pleasure in sightseeing Strążyska Valley. 🙂
